Archive documents of Amur artist Viktor Borisovich Surikov: diploma of the Vladivostok Art School, membership card of the Union of Artists of the USSR, employment references, certificates of creative work and the decision to install a memorial plaque. 1968–2026.

Diploma issued to Viktor Borisovich Surikov upon graduation from the Vladivostok Art School (Painting and Pedagogy Department). Studies: 1963–1968, qualification: drawing and drafting teacher (decision of the State Qualification Commission of 30 June 1968).

Membership card of the Union of Artists of the USSR No. 20926, issued on 22 April 1981 in the name of Viktor Borisovich Surikov. According to the document, Viktor Borisovich Surikov joined the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1980; the inner pages contain stamps and seals confirming payment of membership dues for 1980–1984. The document is of interest as evidence of the professional status of a Soviet artist and the activities of creative unions of the USSR in the early 1980s.

Employment reference for Viktor Borisovich Surikov, prepared by the Amur Art and Production Workshops. The document notes that since 1 September 1970 the artist has proven himself a conscientious and active specialist, participated in the design of the Amur VDNKh (Exhibition of Economic Achievements), and was engaged in public and educational work. It also states that in 1980 Viktor Surikov was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Official letter from the Executive Committee of the Amur Regional Council of People's Deputies, addressed to the Chairman of the Selemdzha District Executive Committee (Ekimchan settlement). The letter informs about a creative assignment of Union of Artists of the USSR member Viktor Borisovich Surikov to create portraits, plein-air studies and sketches for the upcoming exhibitions "Blue Expanses of the Motherland" (1983) and "Soviet Far East" (1984). The Regional Executive Committee asks local organisations to assist the artist with work, including providing a workplace, transport, accommodation and meals. The document is signed by the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, V. I. Sadchikov.

The 1980s.

Official letter from the Amur Art and Production Workshops of the Art Fund of the RSFSR dated 21 September 1984. The document is addressed to the Head of the Passport Office of the Border District Executive Committee of the city of Blagoveshchensk and contains a request to issue entry permits to artists of the Amur organisation of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR for a creative trip to cities of the Far East as part of preparation for the All-Union exhibition "Soviet Far East". The letter lists the trip participants, including artist Viktor Borisovich Surikov, as well as the routes and information necessary for processing the permit.

21 September 1984

Certificate of the artist's creative work, containing biographical data, a list of artistic techniques (oil, watercolour, fresco, mosaic, etc.) and information about the master's work in the Amur region. The document also mentions the genre diversity of his works, participation in state commissions and membership in the Union of Artists of the USSR. The material may be useful for art-historical, archival or exhibition purposes.

The Blagoveshchensk City Duma adopted a decision to perpetuate the memory of Amur painter Viktor Borisovich Surikov by installing a memorial plaque on the facade of the building at 14 Pionerskaya Street.
